SHORT SWEET & SONG

EXCITING NEWS
It's time I officially let you all in on what's happening....
Jamie and I are expecting our first baby this coming July. While all has been fine on the health front, i have been advised to cut right back on my performance commitments for the time being. So, you won't be seeing as much of me for a few months.
Not to fret....there are many projects on the go and many more in talks for later in 2007 and 2008.
Both Jamie and I would like to thank you all for your support over the last few years, and we look forward to keeping you posted on all the happenings of our new little 'adventure'

My apologies to all those who were coming down to the Brisbane Powerhouse for a great night of drinking etc and a solo set - including some of my much anticipated new tunes!
Due to health reasons (bad timing - I know), I won't be showing on the 9th November. We are still talking about a reschedule, so we will be sure to post the new date when it's confirmed....once again apologies for the cancellation. REVIEW OF MEGAN @ MELBOURNE FRINGE
"The stage is set simply; one grand piano and one truly talented performer. Shorey welcomes the audience with a delicately boisterous voice, her femininity oozing from every ounce of her being. Although categorised as cabaret, Shorey’s one woman show sits more like a gentle gig that you would perhaps encounter in a cosy city wine bar.
She takes issues of human emotion and experience and puts words to the sometimes unspeakable. Expressing that there is too much “bullshit made polite,” Shorey’s rawness made the audience, sit quiet with ease and admiration. The classical piano was the perfect accompaniment to Shorey’s storytelling, with the heavy keys and a dramatic soul performance; she could easily be the sister of Tori Amos and Katie Noonan.
Considering her experience travelling and performing around the world (she recently performed at the Theatre Crossover Festival in the Netherlands), it seems absurd that ‘Us’ is Shorey’s first ever Melbourne performance. This now Brisbane based singer/songwriter captures everything from the most beautiful pleasures and emotion to the darkness of loss and desperation. ‘Us’ is an observation on the way we will our lives, what we hold close to us and the beautiful emotions in which we share."

MELBOURNE FRINGE A SUCCESS
Many thanks to the team @ Melbourne Fringe.
Although my time at the festival was brief, the response was so warm and welcoming.
A highlight was certainly British Comedian Steven K Amos' post show encouragement to encorporate a Casio into the performance (hehehe). I'm so looking forward to playing melbourne in 2007....stay tuned!

Many thanks to all those new fans and music lovers who stood patiently in line for over 70 mins waiting for a Noorderzon Ticket. Perhaps my next lengthier tour to Holland will mean more shows and therfore more tickets available.

In August of this year, Megan will travel to the Netherlands to perform at the Opening Reception of The Noorderzon Festival.
